Battlestar is back for its fourth original season! As the season opens, the last remnants of humanity continue their search for a new home, the thin line that separates them from the rapidly evolving Cylons is being redrawn. Galactica’s crew, rocked by Starbuck’s sudden and mysterious return from the dead – and her claims that she has been to Earth and can lead them there – attempts to make sense of the inexplicable. Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, Battlestar Galactica's intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it numerous awards, including an Emmy. The outstanding ensemble cast is led by Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, and Grace Park.

Fantastically Bleak

To excuse all the bleating from those who wish to live in some utopian world where itunes gives all its content away for free, may i suggest a trip to Amazon or Play. This programme, from the very first episode has been beyond compare. (apart from the Sopranos maybe) It manages to convey the bleak hopelessness, of what it must be like to be one of the last members of the human race, from the first pilot when they have to leave so many behind having just witnessed the destruction of mankind, To not know for sure that there is a way out for them all, living with the faint hope that they may be delivered, is all beautifully portrayed. this is television at its very best, to label it as just Sci-fi is to belittle the script, acting, production values, and all involved with making such powerful drama.

This first episode in the continuation of series four takes viewers into darker territory - if possible - than previously. The despair at finding a radio-active wasteland where they had expected to find the 13th Colony oozes like poison over both the colonial fleet and the rebel cylons. The fifth cylon is (apparently) revealed, though there remains a question mark. For one colonial the despair ends in suicide. 'Battlestar Galactica' has got to be one of the best ever series, and I would rank it up there with 'I, Claudius' and 'Jesus of Nazareth' in terms of acting, script writing and overall conception - also the music is superb! Even my wife loves the show, and she isn't usually into sci-fi.

About time!

About bloody time! But unlike the american iTunes store there is still no season 3 episodes on iTunes as I write this. I am desperately waiting to download the Season 3 episode 'Exodus Pt,2' Don't these people realise that all they do is to encourage criminal downloads from file share sites? I would much rather have a higher quality legal download. All the same any Galactica that the powers that be let us have is all good:)
