In the not-too-distant future, vampires have come out of the coffin. Mass-produced synthetic blood has allowed these oft-maligned creatures of the night to walk freely among us…no longer in need of a human fix. But can a young Louisiana waitress forge a love match with a vampire? HBO presents the thrilling first season of this drama series created by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) and based on the best-selling “Sookie Stackhouse” novels by Charlaine Harris. Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, Season One introduces Sookie (played by Anna Paquin), a perky Louisiana waitress with telepathic gifts and an irresistible attraction to a 173-year-old bloodsucker named Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). Surrounded by colorful local folk, Sookie sets out to prove that humans and vampires cannot only co-exist—they can find something akin to true love.

In Louisiana, Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress with telepathic abilities, falls under the spell of a sexy, 173-year-old vampire named Bill Compton--whose thoughts she can't read. After saving Bill from the Rattrays, a pair of ruthless 'vampire drainers,' Sookie tests the limits of Bill's gratitude when the two are left alone in the dark. Meanwhile, Sookie's best friend Tara quits one job to work for Sam Merlotte at his bar and grill, and Sookie's roguish brother Jason finds himself in hot water when a 'fangbanger,' whom he's been intimate with meets a tragic end.||58:34||£2.49||View in iTunes|

True blood money saver
Don't be too eager to buy download of episodes. If you have FX on sky you can see it there without paying for it. If iTunes would do a HD version then it would be worth buying each episode. Oh another thing people are asking why iTunes are only realeasing one episode a week? Well Fx has the rights in the uk to premier episodes and you can only download latest episode only when it has been aired on FX. So check out iTunes on Friday night after 10pm when it's aired. Hope this info helps. And come on iTunes bring HD version as it's on Sky FX in HD I know I would buy episodes if it was in HD.
One of the best shows on tv
I like others thought this would be just a boring girl meet vampire. They fall in love. This means danger - type show. But no! It manages to blend the sci fi element of the vampires with some steamy scenes whilst adding great characterisation (from both the actors ( who are great! Especially anna paquin and Stephen moyer) and the writers ) and some genuine laugh out loud moments. This show is great - and addictive. And I would recommend it to anyone who likes good tv.
Quirky, different and brilliant
After watching the first episode I wasn't sure how to take this programme, but, we watched the second episode and became very quickly drawn in to this very dark and extremely funny series. It's kind of like a humorous soap with horror in for good measure, and of course plenty of steamy action as you'd expect from a vampire programme/film. True Blood is like Pringles (crisps) for your TV... once you pop you can't stop!
