Edge of Darkness
Originally broadcast in 1985, `Edge of Darkness' gained critical acclaim shortly after it hit the air, with its suspenseful mix of political thriller and crime drama hitting just the right notes with viewers. It follows the efforts of policeman Ronald Craven (Bob Peck in a breakout role) to unravel the mystery behind the brutal murder of his daughter Emma, an environmental activist who is killed by a shotgun blast right before his eyes. Eventually, Craven's investigation uncovers a labyrinthine conspiracy in the nuclear industry and brings him into contact with CIA agent Darius Jedburgh, a loquacious sort whose truth-finding agenda - and personality - clashes with Craven's.
