It’s a new world for the Spooks team: Ros’s death and a new coalition parliament herald in an era of re-assessment of the role of Britain, MI5 and even the life of a Spook. Faced with Ros’s barely attended funeral, the team come to question what a person sacrifices when they become a spy, provoking Harry to make an unexpected offer to another member of the Team. Further challenges await Harry in the form of the new Government and colourful new Home Secretary, William Towers. Working for a government doing whatever it takes to stop the country from sinking into historic economic disaster in their first year in office, Harry’s instincts are challenged as he is forced to bend to the will of those more powerful. There are some new faces on the Grid. Beth Bailey – an ex-mercenary who wants to hang up her boots in Iraq and find a more meaningful existence, defending the realm. Desperate to impress, she leaves some vital details about her past off her application form. Then there’s Dimitri Levendis: ex-SBS (Special Boat Service) who proves how capable and heroic he is in an impossible situation in Episode 1. Lucas bumps into a ghost from his past, Vaughn, who leaves him with a suitcase with remnants of his previous life as someone else. It’s a window into the reality that Lucas North has spent years repressing. A bit of Lucas wants to revisit this past, and Vaughn knows this, manipulating Lucas into doing his bidding. Obsession for Maya, the great love of his life that he left behind, crashes in on him and he tracks her down. Their love re-ignites and, with dreams of starting again, Lucas struggles to maintain the life he’s created in Section D as Harry’s trusted Section Chief. Lucas leads with skill and professionalism but, with a past that is shrouded in lies and deceit, can Lucas ever really have the life he yearns for?

Back with a bang

Spooks is something special and something to be proud of as a British person. It proves that our drama is in the same league as the American big boys. Spooks is slick, sexy, stylish and full of suspense and action. Regularly attracting audiences in excess of 5 million, Spooks is always relevant and fresh. S9 proves to be no different, boasting a stella cast and top rate production crew.

Never better

Every time they kill someone (or some people) off, I think to myself, that's it, they've gone too far and Spooks can never be as good again! And every single time I am totally wrong, it gets better, without fail. As much as I miss Ros, Adam, Tom, Jo and all of the other numerous fantastic characters which have come, and spectacularly gone, the writers and directors of this superb production go from strength to strength! Keep it coming and never, ever stop.

where are episodes 7 & 8?

After getting all episodes 1-6 the day after, it's a bit disappointing to have to wait for the rest :( - get your act together, iTunes people!
