When his families past brutally returns, Russian exile Alex Godman is drawn into the murky world of international crime. Having spent his life trying to escape the shadow of his father's criminal past and running a successful London hedge fund, Alex suddenly finds himself having to protect his family and fight for all he has worked for. In doing so he must take a path he always vowed against.

Alex reluctantly joins Semiyon in Prague as he ventures on a plan that will hugely cost Vadim's business interests. Alex is asked to put his own business in danger as the pressure mounts, and Dmitri's grief takes increasing grip as he spirals out of control, leaving the family feeling lost. Meanwhile, a young girl lands in Cairo and embarks on a very different journey.

As Alex comes to terms with the repercussions of his actions, and Vadim closes in, Rebecca meets a mysterious figure who reaches out to Alex with an interesting proposition. The couple fly to the South of France for a surprising weekend. While in London Dmitri slowly recuperates, as Oksana learns a secret that threatens to tear the family apart.

Alex tries to conceal his actions from Karin and in doing so unlocks a way to attack Vadim's lucrative business with Benny Chopra in Mumbai. He and Semiyon team with Dilly Mahmood in a dangerous game to vanquish Benny's stronghold over the ports. On the surface things with Alex and Rebecca seem as if they have never been better as the family celebrate their engagement, but Rebecca starts to suspect that Alex is concealing something from her.

Semiyon awakes to an awful accusation against him, and few allies that can save him. Alex believes he is innocent and embarks on uncovering his accusers, despite Rebecca's protests. Joseph learns that Ludymilla maybe the key to Semiyon's salvation, but her cooperation comes with conditions and Katya unravels and unsavoury truth that troubles her.

Vadim starts to slowly close in on the Godman family and gather intelligence,as Alex gets increasingly concerned for his family's safety he enlists professional security. Rebecca reaches an impasse with Alex as she learns of the jeopardy he has placed his business in. He decides she should move out while she is still struggling with his decisions.
