Foyle's War

It is July 1945 and Britain is settling into peacetime. When Sam's new boss, renowned artist Sir Leonard Spencer-Jones is found dead in his home, suspicion falls on Niko, a Russian prisoner of war whom the artist had taken under his wing. When Niko flees Sussex for the sanctuary of the Russian House in London, Foyle is dispatched by the War Office to bring him back.

Sam and Adam are now running a dilapidated local guest house where Mandy Dean is one of the residents. Disowned by her family, she is a young, vulnerable mother all alone because of the hostility levelled against her and her mixed-race baby. Her ex-boyfriend returns hoping to win her back, but then she is found murdered and the finger of suspicion points to a black GI at the nearby US military base - the father of her child.

Foyle is finally given a date when he can relinquish his post as Detective Chief Superintendent, but when he spots a headline about a member of a local family sentenced to hang for treason, he realises that there is one last case to explore. Foyle visits James Deveraux in his cell and and finds a young man intent on self destruction. With time running out, he desperately searches for any evidence to clear Deveraux's name.

New three-part series, set in the era of the cold war. As Foyle returns from a stay in the USA, MI5 agents persuade him to go to their London HQ immediately. Foyle is told that a Soviet spy ring called the Eternity Ring is at large in the capital and could involve the distinguished nuclear physicist Professor Michael Fraser. Foyle does not understand why he has been involved, but the deputy head of MI5 explains that Fraser's secretary is Foyle's former assistant, now married, Samantha Wainwright, whom Fraser could be using as a go-between with the Russians. Foyle is shocked that MI5 are suggesting that Sam could be a traitor to her country.

Three-part series, set in the era of the cold war. The disappearance of a Foreign Office official appears to explain the deaths of a number of Russian agents working for British Intelligence. An apprehensive Sam is also now working at MI5 HQ while helping her husband Adam, who is standing as a Labour Party candidate at the Peckham by-election. While on the campaign trail, Adam meets Mrs Green who asks for his help in finding her daughter Evelyn who has been missing for three days. Back at MI5, Sam notices documents referring to Evelyn Green, the missing woman from her husband's potential constituency. But as Foyle continues with his enquiries, the wall of silence surrounding a mysterious military facility leads him to question the motives of his own colleagues.

Three-part series set in the era of the Cold War. Foyle is told by the head of MI5 that eminent art historian Professor Van Haren is actually a high-ranking Nazi whose real name is Karl Strasser. MI5 are protecting him because he is a valuable intelligence asset, but someone is now trying to kill him and he wants Foyle to investigate. Arthur Valentine makes it clear that he neither likes the man nor agrees with the decision to give him a new identity. After a meeting with Foyle, Van Haren accuses him of not taking his allegations seriously, but he returns to his boarding house to find a sinister dried sunflower on his pillow. Meanwhile, Sam tells Foyle that her husband Adam is so busy as a new MP that she may not be able to share some big news with him.
