Haven, Maine appears to be just another lively, New England seaside town, complete with quaint shops, scenic beaches and a busy harbor. But when FBI Agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) first arrived on a routine case, she encountered the mysterious underside of Haven. Her investigation lead her to discover that Haven has a secret: it’s home to a number of people suffering from supernatural afflictions. Audrey found that she is uniquely qualified to handle these supernatural events – referred to in local legend as “the Troubles” – and after discovering that Haven might hold clues about her own mysterious past, she chose to stay in Haven to do so. Audrey joined the Haven Police Department and became partner to Nathan Wuornos, a wry local detective, and together they strive to protect Haven and help the supernaturally afflicted people in town. Nathan is one of them, having lost his sense of touch and his ability to feel anything, from pain to pleasure. He can only feel Audrey, whom they discover has an odd “immunity” to the “Troubles.” This mysterious gift often allows Audrey to help the afflicted when others cannot. Audrey and Nathan operate as part of local law enforcement, but when their supernatural cases lead them outside the law, they often rely on local rogue Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour), whose secretive business ventures skate both sides of the law and whom Nathan has known since childhood. And standing in the background are more of the Haven locals who can aid or impair Audrey’s journey. People like Vince and Dave Teagues, the brothers who own the town newspaper and who – like many in Haven – are skilled at keeping the town’s many deep secrets. All the while, Audrey must grapple with an identity crisis. She discovered she has somehow been in Haven before – that some 27 years ago, though she has no memory of it, she lived in Haven as a woman named Lucy Ripley and seemingly helped the “Troubled” people in town then much the same way she does today. These revelations, and more, have caused Audrey to question everything she’s ever known about herself as she begins to realize her arrival and ongoing role in Haven hasn’t occurred by chance. “Haven,” based on the Stephen King novella ‘The Colorado Kid,” is the story of Audrey’s entry into this seemingly normal town. Across the seasons, Audrey’s quest to understand herself and the great mysteries of Haven will drive her ever deeper down the rabbit hole…
