Gerry faces some painful memories when his old friend who has a reputation for violence asks for help. He's been serving time for robbery and while in prison his grandson Jake died in suspicious circumstances. Back in UCOS the team is tense because Sasha's been forced to work with her ex-husband and Gerry's feeling fragile after falling out with his daughter.

The body of a film critic is found dead and is thought to be linked to the twenty year old murder of a concept artist, David Straka. As the team interview Straka's contemporaries, groupies and assistants, looking for connections between the deaths, they find themselves immersed in the macabre world of the occult

When a Roman sword is discovered with traces of blood on it, the DNA is linked to an unidentified, headless corpse found near Heathrow in March 2008. The team search a lockup belonging to the owner of the sword, a body builder called Mark Rix who died of a suspected heart attack, also in 2008.
