Martin's medical career remains under scrutiny as a GMC representative comes to assess Martin and his surgery. Al accidentally proposes to Morwenna and Mrs Tishell has a new lease on life. Meanwhile, Mel pries into a sibling for James Ellingham.

Martin's GMC report requires he passes three refresher courses, starting with phlebotomy. Louisa is focused on her new career as a child and adolescent counsellor. Much to Bert's dismay, Al hires Caitlin, and confesses to his accidental proposal.

Louisa has planned a special evening for Martin's birthday, which doesn't go to plan because of Al's surprise engagement party for Morwenna. Louisa's class tutorial ends in disaster and Penhale is disappointed when Ruth's burglary isn't what it seems.

Martin has his second GMC assessment - mock surgery - and Buddy is missing. Ken's arrival doesn't bring good news for Al and Bert, and Penhale isn't happy with the arrival of his predecessor, Mark Mylow, who tries to take charge of his investigation.

Someone's been shot! Penhale is keen to work out who is responsible. Louisa feels more like Martin's patient than wife, so suggests they see a fertility specialist. James's first play date ends in chaos and the pub is officially for sale.
