Description

On the drug-infested streets of West Baltimore, there are good guys and there are bad guys. Sometimes you need more than a badge to tell them apart. From HBO comes Season 1 of this highly realistic drama series that follows a single sprawling drug and murder investigation in Baltimore — one that culminates in a complex series of dangerous wiretaps and surveillance. Told from the points of view of both the police and their targets, the series captures a universe where easy distinctions between good and evil, and crime and punishment, are challenged at every turn. The ensemble cast includes Dominic West, John Doman, Idris Elba, Frankie R. Faison, Larry Gilliard Jr., Wood Harris, Domenick Lombardozzi, Deirdre Lovejoy, Wendell Pierce, Lance Reddick, Andre Royo and Sonja Sohn.

Why so expensive

You can get the actual DVD's for £15, in fact the entire series is available for £60! Get with the times apple. You want me to download 8 gigs of data on my capped broadband for far more than me buying the dvd's???? HELLO!!!!

The best TV show ever

The Wire is a better cop show that NYPD Blue or the Shield, it's better on gangsters than The Sopranos, says more about politics than the West Wing and blows the CSI franchise away in one amazing forensics scene. I'm jealous of anyone who hasn't experienced The Wire yet because they have a life-changing experience ahead of them. This is what TV could and should be. It's as complex and multi-layered as the best novel you've ever read, as powerful as the best movie you've ever seen, and as enjoyable as a regular thriller. It shows you how the "war on drugs" is a war doomed to be lost, and how the tired concepts of "good" and "evil" just don't help explain how a modern city can become such a morass. Everyone should see this show. It simply can't be praised highly enough.

I really like this series, in fact I have seen season 1 on dvd and part of season 2

My problem is that this is £14.98 on Amazon. Get it right itunes! I really like itunes but this is waaaay too expensive. 4 stars+ for the program itself and -1 star for value
