Emerging from the neo-psychedelic legacy of Spiritualized, England's Lupine Howl will undoubtedly appeal to fans of that band's dream-drone atmospherics and Verve-like pop sensibilities. For their stateside debut, 125, the band has collected their first overseas singles, and it's an impressive introduction to their hypnotic, quixotic world. Designated as only an EP, the release's seven songs still run longer than many bands' full-lengths, clocking in at almost 40 minutes of trancy, almost ethereal psych rock.

After Spiritualized's Jason Pierce fired guitarist Mike Mooney, bassist Sean Cook, and drummer Damon Reece in early 1999, the trio formed Lupine Howl, a mix of psych, soul, and Krautrock, just a few months later. The trio worked with Massive Attack before releasing their 2000 debut single Vaporizer, which featured contributions from Portishead's John Baggart and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's Euros Childs, on their own Vinyl Hiss imprint.
