Album Review

Australia's Iggy Azalea's debut record is a much-delayed yet highly anticipated release. The New Classic includes Azalea's rough-and-ready rapping and highly detailed production work, and features artists such as Rita Ora, T.I, Mavado, and a writing credit for Katy Perry. The release features the singles "Bounce," "Work," and "Change Your Life."

A Strong Debut

"The New Classic" is a pretty great debut album from Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. It does exactly what it was designed to do. Iggy has a pretty solid flow, the lyrics do make sense especially on tracks like 'Work' where she talks about her life broke and alone in Miami and how she came up and there are tracks with much energy such as 'Goddess' in which she brings some fire. There definitely are some EDM and/or Pop vibes here and there (eg Fancy), mostly due to the production, but they are all for the better in my opinion. As for the accent that everyone has been debating on, I have to say that it didn't distract me at all. The album would be close to perfect if it wasn't for the songs Lady Patra and F***k Love, but it has a definite recommendation from me.
Favorite Tracks: Walk the Line, Change Your Life, Don't Need Y'all, Work and Impossible is Nothing.

Moving from Miami to Houston to Atlanta, she absorbed the Southern-style drawl of her surroundings and released a trap-inspired mixtape titled Ignorant...
