The opening tracks—featuring laidback soul and boom-bap from Cody ChesnuTT, Dopehead and Jitwam—are a head-nodder’s delight; following a vibey stretch of Flying Lotus and Nightmares on Wax, he starts pulling out curveballs: Little Dragon’s wistful electro-pop, Andres’ Latin funk, even a vocoder-heavy jam from Caribou’s alias Les Sins. This being a Moodymann joint, Dixon himself supplies sly edits to many of his selections, guaranteeing that you’ll never hear these songs the same way anywhere else.
