Following the success of their five-song EP, Forever, Number One Gun released their first national disc, Celebrate Mistakes, on Floodgate Records. What Number One Gun delivers on the project is an emo/rock formula that embraces straightforward guitars and driving rhythms. Cuts like "You Fail Sometimes" and "Invest in You" bring some cool guitar counterrhythms into the picture, while vocalist Jeff Schneeweis wails in the same vein as bands like Our Lady Peace and Third Eye Blind. "These Things" is a song with an emotional backdrop. Here, the band pulls back the tempo while acoustic guitars and orchestration boost a song dripping with passion. The band seems to keep the energy level at a fervent pitch throughout the entire disc. On Celebrate Mistakes, Number One Gun is able to use lush guitars and passionate melodies to present a disc worthy of consideration.
