Album Review

Another entry in Rounder's look at the Lomax recordings made between 1939 and 1943. This batch is slanted toward the spiritual side of Leadbelly's song list, with strong versions of "Prayer," "Swing Low Sweet Chariot," "Stand Your Test in Judgment," "Old Time Religion," and "Amazing Grace" being particular standouts. The transfers here are a bit cleaner than other volumes in the series, although a bit fusty in spots.
