Malú's eighth studio album, Guerra Fria finds the singer comfortably holding her own among the crowded ranks of mainstream Latin pop. Malú co-wrote half the material together with Melendi and David Santiesteban, while other songwriters include Sin Bandera's Leonel García, David Demaría, and Diego Cantero. Produced by Mexican Grammy-winning producer Armando Ávila (La 5ª Estación, David Bisbal, Ana Torroja, Alejandro Fernández) and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge (Madonna, Green Day, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks), Guerra Fria became Malú's first number one record in Spain, carried by the success of its first single, "Blanco y Negro."
