Album Review

The follow-up to Model for a Monument and Haywood's second full-length album, Men Called Him Mister is an accomplished collection of tunefully angular indie rock, reminiscent of bands like Pavement, Built to Spill, or Varnaline. The lyrics are quirkily abstract, not really the often hilarious non sequiturs of Pavement but full of oddly fresh imagery all the same. All in all, Men Called Him Mister displays a band with a great deal of potential.

Upon their formation in 1992, the lineup of Ted Pauly, Rob Viola, Jeff Paretchan, Ariel Serbin, and Danny Barria would be otherwise known as Haywood to their Philadelphia hometown.
