Album Review

Light It Up is at its base pure fun. From the orgasmic moans and first-wave punk that open the album with "Masturbation Machine" to the Pogues-do-rockabilly "It's All Around" track, a great vitality pervades the album. There are different bits of roots rock here and there, but Clash-style first-wave punk is the main style employed to great effect on this record. Humor is here — hear the stolen opening riff and personal attacks of "Smash Your Pumpkin," as well as the names of the bandmembers: Mike Convict, Chuck O'Holic, Utah County Dave, and Stephen Barsinister. Trashy, cranked-up punk rock is here to save the day, and any and all fans of vibrant, guitar-based music would do well to seek out this release.
