Chicago, IL, postal worker turned MC Kenny Jenkins, along with his band — featuring an all-star collection of windy-city scenesters including Isotope 217 bassist Matt Lux and drummer/producer Ted Sirota — fuse forwardist hip-hop with downtempo on this monumental debut EP for Chocolate Industries. Featuring four songs and an edit previewing the long-player that will include Jeff Parker (Tortoise) and Prefuse-73, Move is hands-down the best hip-hop recording out of Chicago since Common. Organic instrumentation, minimalist performances, and brilliant production with the utmost dedication to clean beat construction makes the music feel like a gift that has been specially prepared for a discernible ear: inventive, intentional, and perfect in its achievement of quality and consistency from one style progression to the next, pruned with a clear vision of bringing out the essence of each soul-flowing track.
