About Los Guacamayos

South American act los Guacamayos was formed in October of 1958 by brothers Alberto and Narciso Vidal, who were joined by singer/guitarist José Mira. Known as a folk threesome, they were mostly influenced by bolero, a romantic Latin style. After being signed up by a Dutch entrepreneur, los Gacamayos were touring the world for almost two decades. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1967, followed that same year by Trio Los Guacamayos, recorded in Holland. They later had the opportunity to work along with Núria Feliu, making a Catalan record. When José Mira left the group, los Guacamayos became a duet. ~ Drago Bonacich
