Album Review

Kurt Bestor & Sam Cardon's Innovators is the musical companion to the PBS program of the same name, which celebrates 12 notable philosophers, scientists, inventors, revolutionaries, and other innovators, including Albert Schweitzer and Stephen Hawking. The global scope of the profiles is reflected in Bestor & Cardon's music, which incorporates classical, contemporary, and world music elements into 13 evocative pieces. African chants, Irish jigs, American folk, and other traditional and current styles come together on compositions like "Rainmaker," "Folkways," "Electric Highway," "Requiem," and "Mastermind." An appropriately creative soundtrack to an inspiring program.
