EDITORS’ NOTES

If any album can be said to have galvanised Christian rock’s move toward pure praise and worship, it’s SonicFlood’s electrifying debut. The LP is littered with songs that quickly became worship standards, sung routinely in churches worldwide. You know the big ones—the empathic “I Want to Know You”, the swaying sing-along “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever”, the prayerful “Holiness”. But the whole album is shot through with high-octane rock and big, worshipful choruses. Plus, even lesser-known songs like “Something About That Name” are mesmerising.

About Sonicflood

Nashville-based alternative CCM group Sonicflood comprised singer Jeff Deyo, guitarists Dwayne Larring, and Dana Weaver, bassist Rick Heil, keyboardist Jason Halbert, and drummer Aaron Blanton. Discovered after a March 1998 club date by Gotee Records president Joey Elwood, Sonicflood issued their self-titled LP later that year, topping the CHR charts with the single "I Want to Know You (In the Secret)." Sonicpraise was issued in fall 2000. ~ Jason Ankeny
