The Boys

The Boys

For a movie that pushes so intently under your skin, it’s fitting that it should be scored by the masters of unsettling post-jazz. Veteran trio The Necks anchor The Boys with menacing tension, highlighting the violent inevitability lurking within Rowan Woods’ 1998 cult classic. But this album includes more music than is heard in the film, and functions just as effectively outside a cinematic context. “Fife and Drum” is a harsh highlight, full of open space yet roughed up with rock-damaged bass and organ.
