Description

** Apple App Store Selections: "Our Favorite Mac Apps" & "Essential Apps & Tools" **

Every time you multitask with many apps open, you need all the windows arranged accordingly. Magnet makes this process swift and easy.

In one drag to the edge of your display, you size any app into half of the screen. And by dragging its windows to corners, you snap them into quarters. Sliding on the bottom edge creates thirds, or even sixths on ultra-wide monitors. Taking advantage of such arrangements eliminates app switching and greatly enhances workspace efficiency.

All commands can be triggered via keyboard shortcuts as well. You can find a predefined set of hotkeys under the menu bar icon, or create ones that fit your habits.

Tzonys ,

I don't know if it's the best, but it works

Yeah, as per the title. I've seen other apps which I haven't tried, some free some paid. I just tried Magnet and it works as expected. It has keyboard shortcuts which I don't use, and you can snap using the mouse on 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, just like on Windows. If you use the little Icon tray you can even snap in even more forms. Some annoyances regarding window management, are coming from macOS, and not from Magnet. So I assume any other app *should* work the same, regardless of the features. I just don't find the reason to try them.

Good but....

Overall: it works as advertised, however I'm having minor trouble with things (admittedly) not advertised
- support for dual monitor setup is lacking. I usually have the laptop lid closed and only use the big monitor, but when I need to open the lid sometimes (ie for the camera in a meeting) the windows get all jumbled, jump across montirors, are re-sized etc. and it's a total hassle to re-arrange.
- does not remember positions after restart. I keep 10-15 windows open all the time and would love to just have them open in the exact same spot and size as before the restart
- would need more shortcuts for splitting my screen, esp. for a 2x3 grid option

Order out of Chaos

Ok... It's not that powefull so that it can bring my chaotic workflow into perfect order yet it does a great job to its purpose.

You can calculate its value for you, considering how many times you get to manually readjust/position windows. If you do so about 20 times per day and you get even 2 seconds to do so you end up saving 40 seconds per day. In a year this translates to about 4 hours of doing something you shoudn't.

That felt like creating marketing copy for magnet :P
