About Amaury Pérez

Son of Cuban Amaury Pérez García, who was a TV director and manager of the famous Tropicana Cabaret, singer/songwriter Amaury Pérez was influenced by local music at a very young age, making his debut by composing an anthem to his elementary school and playing different roles for the Cuban National Television. Inspired by the work of prominent Latin writers, Amaury Pérez began adding music to poems, joining a local movement known as Nueva Trova. In 1974, the artist hit the charts for the first time with a song called "¿Quién Sabe Más?," soon recording "Por Siempre Puerto Rico," along with Pablo Milanés. Amaury Pérez first solo album, called Acuerdate de Abril, was released in 1976 and followed by 1978's Martí en Amaury. While touring Spain, a live performance was recorded and issued as La Nueva Trova Cubana, En El Monumental De Madrid. By the end of the 1970s, the artist teamed up with Eddy Martínez, forming his own band named Síntesis, recording No Lo Van A Impedir. Through the years, Amaury Pérez has been recognized for his valuable work and contribution to the Latin genre in the music business. ~ Drago Bonacich
