About Azita

A fixture of the Chicago music scene, singer and multi-instrumentalist Azita formed the Scissor Girls, who were among the most musically extreme of the abrasive no wave bands that emerged during the early '90s. Azita released her first solo record, Music for Scattered Brains, before founding the Bride of No No, who forged an apocalyptic art rock sound not far removed from Scissor Girls. She released her own Enantiodromia in 2003. The following year's Life on the Fly took her jazz-pop in a wittier, more accessible direction, while the 2006 EP, Detail from the Mountain Side, presented five musical-esque pieces. How Will You? (2009) was one of her most light-hearted albums yet, while 2011's Disturbing the Air was a stark, somber effort. ~ Jason Ankeny
