Commander Cody

About Commander Cody

The leader of the riotous and genre-jumping country-rock band Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen, George “Commander Cody” Frayne is best known for his group’s 1972 Top Ten hit, “Hot Rod Lincoln.” With both the Airmen and the Commander Cody Band, Frayne consistently delivered high-energy music that drew from a wide variety of American roots styles including rockabilly, Western swing, country music, and jump R&B. Though often plagued by poor business decisions, Commander Cody soldiered on, releasing albums on independent labels and finding a new, younger fan base among devotees of the jam band scene.
