Curse Ov Dialect

About Curse Ov Dialect

Initially established as a platform from which to address and discuss racism, Curse ov Dialect celebrate their ethnic diversity not only in their beats, which sample music from around the world, but also in their lyrics. The group recorded three albums distributed in their native Australia before signing to U.S. indie rap label Mush, which issued Lost in the Real Sky (2003), their first album distributed in the States. At the time of that album's release, the group consisted of MCs Raceless, Atarungi, August 2, and Vulk Makedonski, as well as DJ Paso Bionic, all of whom also produced. A second album supported by Mush, Wooden Tongues (2006), was followed by Curse ov the Kaigen (2007), Crisis Tales (2009), and Twisted Strangers (2016), issued through Poetic Dissent, Staubgold, and Monotype. Known for their outlandish, wildly costumed performances, they have toured extensively and have opened for artists ranging from Public Enemy to Severed Heads. ~ Marisa Brown
