About Erasmo Carlos

Erasmo Carlos was a historic figure in Brazilian rock, acknowledged by many as the father of Brazilian style. Extremely important as a composer, mainly because of his creations with longtime partner Roberto Carlos, he was intensively recorded by many top artists. His first single, 1962's "Terror Dos Namorados," was written with Carlos. In 1968, he made his first appearance in film, in Roberto Carlos em Ritmo de Aventura, and the 1980 album Erasmo Carlos Convida… featured duets with the likes of Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil. Erasmo and Roberto Carlos were awarded the Shell prize for the entirety of their works in 1997. Carlos continued to record into the 2010s, when his album Rock 'n' Roll was nominated for a Grammy and won Brazil's Album of the Year award.
