Alonso received his education in Granada and later founded and conducted The Sociedad Filharm¢nica. He was a composer of Spanish zarzuelas, a dramatic form with spoken dialogue. He wrote more than 60 stage works, of which Las Corsarias is the most popular. ~ Lynn Vought
