LARRY is made up of Jeff Bradberry (lead vocals and washboard), Rick Cannon (harmonica), Bob Perkins (bass), Tom "Fee" Watts (guitar), Andy Vickers (drums), Tom Vickers (guitar), and Steve Vickers (percussion). The journey for LARRY began in a dirty little garage somewhere in Austin, TX. Quite by accident, Andy Vickers, Steve Vickers, and Tom Vickers moved in together at the same time Mike McCluer moved to Austin. Steve Vickers was playing drums in a band called Muphungus, and Andy Vickers, Spanky, and Tom Vickers began using their "studio" (the garage) to jam in. Being more than slightly limited by their musical repertoire, the three musicians played all that they knew: Widespread Panic. Though their repertoire was limited, the music felt so good they were quickly joined by old friends Rick Cannon and Jeff Bradberry and were coaxed into opening for Muphungus on December 21, 1995. The fact that this happy band played Widespread Panic along with their hearty five originals quickly netted them their residency at a local venue, the White Rabbit. At the White Rabbit, they were promptly billed as playing all Phish cover tunes. On the night of their first show, a gentleman sat in front and heckled the band to play Phish all night, but LARRY didn't know even one of Phish's tunes. Although the gentleman never received his wish, the man liked the band so much he joined up and became known as Fee, the musical genius who is in reality Tom Watts. Since the illustrious beginning, LARRY has built a huge family of fans stretching throughout Texas and Colorado, while slowly seeping into other pores of America. Some of the bands from around the country that LARRY has played with are Merl Saunders, Leftover Salmon, the Greyboy Allstars, Col. Bruce and ARU, and Chris Duarte. June of 1997 saw the release of LARRY's long-awaited independently released album, Here I Am. In November of the same year, LARRY was honored to be joined on-stage by Domingo Ortiz, the percussionist from Widespread Panic and a true hero to LARRY and many of their fans. This unbelievable show took place at the Mercury in Austin, TX. In October of 1998, LARRY recorded the show that was to be their second album, A Family Album. While mixing down the tapes of the show with producer Larry Telford, the band was invited to join Willie Nelson's new independent record label, Luck Records, which released the album. Two months later, bassist Mike McCluer decided the road had punished him for long enough and left to start a family. As fate would have it, the members of LARRY were already good friends with a starving young bass monster, Bob Perkins. Bob "the Pocket" Perkins quickly fit into the insanity which is LARRY. In 1999, the band stretched their legs out with a tour through Georgia and began to carry the word worldwide with the start of their discussion group on the Internet. They have played multiple live Internet broadcasts including www.bigjam.com. The total Internet appearances was in the vicinity of 156 shows. In January of 2000, LARRY were approached by a man who wanted to put them on a live compilation album with two other bands from across the country. Lauan Records had now gotten the very contagious LARRY bug. A couple of months later, they were offered a sponsorship by An Honest Tune Magazine. The family of fans kept growing and growing and through die-hard fan support and a large grassroots following, LARRY have built a relationship of love, music, and good friends that seems as infectious as it is fun. From out of the depths of the Texas Hill Country, where they say men are men and deer are scared, comes a band like few others. Not many bands are as confused about their musical heritage as LARRY. Some people ask is they are a rock band, while others proclaim that they are kind of jazzy with a bit of funk added. The truth is they are all that and so much more. They can be categorized somewhere between the Grateful Dead and Ozzy Osbourne. LARRY is a little band that squirms to find their own corner of the mud hole.
