About London Elektricity

Co-founder and flagship artist of London's Hospital Records, London Elektricity was a pioneer and mainstay of the late-'90s/early-2000s drum'n'bass scene, putting a soulful twist on the genre with live instrumentation and emotional vocals. Tony Colman and Chris Goss, formerly of jazz act Izit, formed Hospital and dropped their debut album, Pull the Plug, in 1997, combining the typical sounds of studio-made drum'n'bass with live instrumentation. After this, Goss departed to manage the label full-time. Colman leaned further into live instrumentation for his 2003 sophomore album, Billion Dollar Gravy. He formed a live touring band which appeared on the project's third studio album, Power Ballads (2005). London Elektricity went on to release the albums Syncopated City (2008), Yikes! (2011), and Are We There Yet (2015). Building Better Worlds (2019) was Colman's first conceptual project; a complementary remix album, Rebuilding Better Worlds, arrived in 2021.
