About Roscoe Robinson
Roscoe Robinson was actually the second sighted member of the Five Blind Boys (Percell Perkins had been the first, but it was low-keyed) of Mississippi. Born in Arkansas, Robinson's family moved to Gary when he was ten. He began recording in 1951 for Trumpet and sang in many gospel groups, including the Five Trumpets, the Highway Q.C.'s, and the Fairfield Four, before moving into secular music in the '60s. He had a sensational hit in 1966, "That's Enough," for Wand. He continued recording for several other small labels, but never again had any national impact, although he has made many fine regional songs in vintage Southern soul style. Robinson returned to his gospel roots in the '80s, recording High on Jesus for Savoy, followed by a stint with the Gerri label, where he released So Called Friends in 2003 and another gospel album, Gospel Stroll, two years later. ~ Ron Wynn
