About Scrimshire
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. For my 3rd birthday I was given a Casio VL-tone keyboard. And my Dad, who wasn't especially musical, helped me learn the melody from Close Encounters on it. My original was stolen when I was about 18, but I've bought a replacement since. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Björk, Post Herbie Hancock, Head Hunters Portishead, Dummy I was obsessed with the production on Dummy just as I was learning to produce. It had a huge impact. Bjork changed my idea of what the boundaries in music were or were not. And Herbie Hancock was given to me to open up my mind completely to jazz. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Theme for Us (feat. Joshua Idehen & Chip Wickham)” This song is special to me as it helped me make the return to recording music as Scrimshire, after a 6 year break. I remember playing the guitar part and knowing I needed to record, and the whole song just flowed from me. Then I began the album.
