About Stephen Christian

Vocalist Stephen Christian is a thoughtfully emotive, inspirational performer best known as lead singer for the Christian alternative rock outfit Anberlin. When not performing, he also works as worship leader at Calvary Albuquerque Church near his home in New Mexico. Born in 1976 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Christian spent much of his youth living in Winter Haven, Florida. It was there that he formed his high-school punk band, SaGoh 24/7, which eventually became Anberlin. After high school, he split his time between performing with Anberlin and earning his bachelor's degree in psychology while attending the University of Central Florida and Florida State University College of Law. A month after he graduated, the band signed with Tooth & Nail Records. Over the next decade, Christian recorded seven studio albums with Anberlin before the group disbanded in 2014. Also during this period, he released several albums with the acoustic side project Anchor & Braille on his own Wood Water Records. In 2017, he delivered his debut solo album, Wildfires, on the Tooth & Nail imprint BEC Recordings. ~ Matt Collar
