The Crew Cuts

About The Crew Cuts

The Crew Cuts were a clean-cut Canadian harmony quartet who concentrated on covers of songs originally recorded by R&B/doo wop vocal groups, with their cover of the Chords' "Sh-Boom" setting the pattern. Though the original hit the Top Ten, the Crew Cuts' cover found a far easier entrance into established radio formats and mainstream white audiences, hitting number one in 1954. The group were regular visitors to the Top 20 over the next couple of years, repeating the "Sh-Boom" syndrome with songs like "Earth Angel," their second-biggest hit at number three.
