The Rockin' Rollers

About The Rockin' Rollers

Before the String-A-Longs recorded their number three instrumental hit "Wheels" in 1960, they released singles under two different names. Their 1958 debut came out when they were known as the Rock 'n' Rollers; their 1959 follow-up came out after they'd changed their name to the Leen Teens. The Rock 'n' Rollers' sole single, issued on Ven in 1958, featured a pretty solid, slightly Buddy Holly-like rockabilly number on the A-side ("For You") and a drippy ballad ("'Boy!' I Think It's Really Love") on the flip. Both sides of the 45 were reissued on the String-A-Longs CD compilation The Tex-Mex Teen Magic of the String-A-Longs. ~ Richie Unterberger
