Another act from promoter Jeep Holland's A² Productions stable -- which also gave rise to local legends the Rationals and SRC -- Ann Arbor, Michigan-based pop-rockers the Thyme comprised vocalist Steve Van Den Berg, guitarist Ralph Cole, bassist Alan Wilmot and drummer Eddy. Formed across the state in Kalamazoo, the group was originally dubbed the Hitch-Hikers, and under that name issued a pair of singles -- "Someday Baby" and "You're the One" -- during the mid-'60s; upon relocating to Ann Arbor circa 1967, they rechristened themselves the Thyme and became the steady house band at the local Fifth Dimension club, also appearing frequently at the famed Grande Ballroom. In sum the Thyme recorded three more singles, among them covers of the Zombies' "Time of the Season" as well as Neil Diamond's "Love to Love," before disbanding in 1969 when Cole exited to join Lighthouse. ~ Jason Ankeny
