About Visionear

Detroit-area artist Jim Konen began his visionEar project in 1998. He sought to combine multiple elements -- electronica and rock as well as lighting and video -- into a resulting hybrid unlike anything else on the market. He released the Primer EP in 1998 and followed with the digThesis album a year later. By this point, Konen was performing live around the Detroit area (he's actually from Pontiac, MI) with what he termed as his RMP (realtime preformance module), a sort of viewer/listener interface that intensifies his music with lighting. In 2002, the Pontiac-based label Future Records released his second full-length, Future Sans, which furthered Konen's artistic vision. In addition to visionEar, Konen also runs the Future Records label and has several other projects: Detroit Improv Duo, Feztone, and EM. ~ Jason Birchmeier
