About Westside Connection

Arriving at the peak of the ’90s coastal rap feud, the hip-hop supergroup Westside Connection exemplified the West Coast gangsta sound. • The trio began collaborating in 1994, when Ice Cube and WC contributed verses to Mack 10’s eponymous debut album. The following year, Ice Cube and Mack 10 appeared on rap group WC and the Maad Circle’s final release, Curb Servin’. • After the 1996 disbandment of WC and the Maad Circle, WC officially joined Ice Cube and Mack 10 to form Westside Connection. • Despite receiving criticism for promoting violence, the group’s 1996 debut album, Bow Down, hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and earned a platinum certification. • In 2003, the group returned with their gold-certified second and final album, Terrorist Threats. Its lead single, “Gangsta Nation”, featuring venerable Cali rap crooner Nate Dogg, reached No. 9 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs.
