GÂBLE, s. m. Terme de charpenterie appliqué à la maçonnerie. Il y a encore une association de charpentiers à laquelle on donne le nom de Gavauds, et, dans le Berri, un homme qui a les jambes arquées en dehors s'appelle un gavaud. Le gâble est originairement la réunion, à leur sommet, de deux pièces de bois inclinées.
