Reseña de álbum

Kiddo is a Cleveland trio who serves up rockin' pop on their self-titled debut release from Drive-in Records. "Woodward Avenue" is the opening track that showcases the strengths of Kiddo. This radio-friendly single combines the vocal harmonies of Christian Doble and Liz Wittman and the punch of driving guitars and straight beats. The track laments on the life of one who used to live in Detroit. This fun track cannot carry the record though. Kiddo is a pop record that borders on the likes of Weezer, Veruca Salt, and the Muffs. The countering male/female vocals touch on a sound like that of Small Factory. "You're Not Who You Said You Were" has great hooks in its verse/chorus/bridge structure. The time change at the end of this track is quite a welcome surprise and hints at where Kiddo could go in the future. This catchy, energetic pop might just be a bit too polished. A great guitar intro starts off "The Hell Song." Wittman's backing vocals really work here, accenting Doble's vocals and jangly guitar. The middle of this track switches gears to a breakdown that reminds one of Ben Folds Five. In the end, Kiddo plays it safe when they should let loose and give in to the rock.
