Pages of Life: Chapters 1 & 2 is a double-disc set: the first disc is a new studio record, the second a live set that captures Fred Hammond & Radical For Christ in concert in Detroit. Both records demonstrate that Hammond is an innovative, exceptional musician, capable of capturing the spiritual fervor of traditional gospel with the smooth rhythms and streetwise attitude of urban R&B. This is especially apparent on the second disc, when the spirit simply surges through the live performance, but the first disc is one of Hammond's better records, filled with great songs and true passion.

A multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist for the soulful black gospel group Commissioned during the 1980s and '90s, Fred Hammond also became one of the most popular praise & worship leaders in the field. Born in Detroit, Hammond began singing with his church choir at the age of 12. He played bass and sang with the Winans during the early '80s, then joined Commissioned later in the decade, showcasing his superb arranging, production, and songwriting skill as well as his soaring vocals....
