Album Review

For his comeback album, Ronnie Montrose largely showcases his talents as a guitar shredder throughout this nine-song offering, pausing rarely to add a vocal delivery (most notably on George Harrison's "Love You To," here given the title "Love to You"). With big, overly chorused production and packaging familiar to fans of the '80s hit movie Back to the Future, the results are intriguing for only the most die-hard Ronnie Montrose fans.

Guitarist Ronnie Montrose began his career as a backing musician, playing with Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs, and Edgar Winter. He finally formed his own band in 1973. Named after the guitarist, Montrose also featured vocalist Sammy Hagar, bassist Bill Church, and drummer Denny Carmassi; they released their debut album in 1974, and Church was replaced by Alan Fitzgerald shortly after its release.
