There are those who claim Cleveland's later recordings with The Southern California Community Choir don't quite match those with the group from Nutley, NJ. Perhaps — even probably. He's also lost some power as he's gotten older. But whether led by Cleveland or by other singers (notably the magisterial Lavora Wilson) the material on this CD is powerful and joyous enough to make that kind of distinction irrelevant. ~ John Storm Roberts, Original Music, Rovi
