Album Review

Although French pop singer Jenifer won France's equivalent of American Idol during its first season in 2002, it wasn't until her third album, 2007's Lunatique, that the Nice native made her big commercial breakthrough, thanks to the smash single "Tourner Ma Page." A catchy tune with a bouncy rocksteady beat and skanking horn section not far removed from the vibe of Lily Allen's "Smile," "Tourner Ma Page" is an undeniable slice of ear candy even for those who don't understand the language. Other highlights include the atmospheric ballads "Nos Futurs" and "Quitte à Se Quitter," both of which make good use of the lower end of Jenifer's range.
