On British Steel, Judas Priest traded the proggy complexities of Stained Class and Hell Bent for Leather for streamlined rock hooks and street-punk rebellion. The result is yet another groundbreaking platter central to metal’s evolution. The entire band, but especially Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing’s ultra-lean riffs, groove hard on “You Don’t Have to Be Old to Be Wise” and ultimate party jam “Living After Midnight”. Try to blast “Breaking the Law” without feeling motivated to chuck rocks at your neighbours’ windows. Impossible.

Judas Priest was one of the most influential heavy metal bands of the '70s, spearheading the New Wave of British Heavy Metal late in the decade.
