Composer/keyboardist Jonn Serrie is quietly becoming a major player in the contemporary instrumental music genre. Mixing memorable, melodic pop songs with less-structured ambient compositions, Serrie creates a romantic soundscape on his fifth Miramar release, Midsummer Century. Songs like Jimmy Webb's classic "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" and his own "Lookback" represent Serrie's love of traditional pop melodies and rhythms. "Land of Lyss" and "The Ancient of Days" display his unique talent of creating mood and emotion with special sound design.

Leading planetarium composer Serrie has been looking to the heavens for inspiration for over a decade. Coming from a family ensconced in the aviation field, Serrie now soars and glides with his hands on the controls of analog and digital synthesizers. His rhythmic outings often have an understated heroic feel, although he has also done some more pop-oriented instrumentals on his 1990 release Tingri.
