Percussive, sumptuous notes from the Asian underground bridge the gap between two musical worlds on this landmark debut from London-born artist Talvin Singh. Building on production work with the likes of Bjork, Singh recorded OK on four different continents and that widescreen, global scope is audible. “Sutrix” wrangles skittering drum and bass, “Light” adds ambience to those squelchy tablas drums and “Mombasstic”—inspired by political exile—is all raindrop beats and smoky jazz horns.
