Straight Out the Jungle

Straight Out the Jungle

The Jungle Brothers’ visionary debut not only gave us "I'll House You", a hip-house track that swapped B-boy poses for jacking and voguing; it also laid the foundation for years of jazz-sampling hip-hop to come. A cornerstone of the Native Tongues tradition, the album combines socially conscious Afrocentrism, as on positive, funk-flecked tunes like "Straight Out the Jungle" and "Black Is Black", with playful puppy-love anthems like “Behind the Bush” and goofy schoolyard jokes like “Jimbrowski”. Just because the Brothers were smart doesn't mean they had to be serious.
